The annual Saka Dawa (Vesak) retreat is taking place at Gaden Kahoe Shing Monastery over the next two weeks, so we will not have an open teaching or practice during that time.

The Vesak (Saka Dawa) celebration this year is June 4th – 17th, 2019 (Full moon). It is holiest Buddhist celebration, during this month Buddha Shakyamuni was born, attained Enlightenment and went into parinirvana on same full moon day in different years.

This year, our GSL Sangha will set goal to recite 100,000 or as much as possible Tara Mantra during Saka Dawa. We dedicate all our merits from good deeds to alleviate sufferings of all beings and achieve all their wishes, the long life of our teachers, to achieve all our dharma goals including the construction of the new monastery and to attain Enlightenment for benefit of all sentient beings.

In support of this effort, we will have meditation practice on Saturday for participating sangha members.

This weekend June 14, 2019 we will have a Tara practice for those participating in the Saka Dawa practice for GSL Monastery.

We will be begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday 6/14/19 and include time dedicated for Tara mantra recitation.

Please call if you need driving directions or wish to check for weather related cancellations. If practice is cancelled, we will send out an email notification as soon as possible.
